Jane K. Reilly

Jane K. Reilly of Mattituck passed away at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport March 24, 2018, after a short illness. She was 90.

Jane was born in Mattituck Jan. 19, 1928, to Ralph and Alice (Stouffer) Bergen.

She was predeceased by a sister, Helen M. Bergen and a brother, Ralph C. Bergen Jr.

On Sept. 18, 1949, she married Norman A. Reilly Sr. and they spent 44 wonderful years together. Norman Sr. passed away in 1993.

Surviving are her children, Norman Reilly Jr. and his wife, Laurie, and Deborah J. Ambrose, all of Mattituck. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Caron Reilly, Diana Reilly VanVliet (Nicholas), Jacqueline Reilly and Kenneth Reilly (Aimee), and two great-grandchildren: Aiden Shea Reilly and Declan William VanVliet.

Jane was a member of Mattituck Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of Mattituck Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Harley Davidson owners group,  Riverhead Garden Club and a Mattituck bridge club.

She was an assistant to Dr. Peter Zapp, a dentist in Mattituck, for many years.

During her great life, Jane enjoyed horseback riding, boating, traveling, motorcycling, and the many years at her home in Florida, but family was most precious to her.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, March 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where religious services will be held during the visitation. Interment will follow at New Bethany Cemetery in Mattituck.

Memorial donations to Mattituck Fire Department Rescue Squad would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
