Former Riverhead resident Joel Ayala Torres of Mastic died Jan. 30 at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 42.
He was born April 6, 1971, in Puerto Rico to Epifanio and Carmen Ayala. He worked as an auto detailer in Riverhead, and family members said he enjoyed football and baseball.
Mr. Torres is survived by his parents and his brothers, Javier, of Poughkeepsie, and Josue, of Puerto Rico.
The family received visitors Feb. 2 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation was private.
