Former Riverhead resident James Butts Jr. of Mastic Beach died Nov. 25. He was 42.

The family will receive visitors Friday, Nov. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Galilee Church of Christ in Riverhead, with a funeral service taking place at the church Saturday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.

John Perrone

John Perrone of Baiting Hollow died Nov. 27 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. He was 67.

He was born Dec. 24, 1945, in Brooklyn to Gaetano and Angelina (Caputo) Perrone and was employed as a sales manager by Masland Carpet Mills in Mobile, Ala.

Predeceased by his wife, Veronica (née Reilly), in 2007, Mr. Perrone is survived by his daughters, Lori, of Miller Place, and Loni Lewis of Riverhead; and two grandchildren.

The family received visitors Dec. 1 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place Dec. 2 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead, the Rev. Robert Kuznik officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.

Jennie Lee Pierce

Jennie Lee Pierce of Peconic died at San Simeon Nursing Home Nov. 22, 2013. She was 82 years old.

She was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Melville and married her fiancé, Henry, on Feb. 23, 1964, in Lindenhurst.

Henry, who died Feb. 1, 2013, was the owner of Pierce Yacht Basin in Greenport.

Mrs. Pierce was cremated Nov. 27, 2013.

Arrangements were entrusted to DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.

Eleanor Waldheim

Former Southold resident Eleanor Waldheim of Boca Raton, Fla., died Nov. 27, 2013. She was 89 years old.

She was born to an Irish family named Sheehan and raised on New York’s Upper East Side. Eleanor had five sisters and one brother. Surviving are her two sisters, Betty and Joan Sheehan, as well as her nieces and nephews: Tom Weigel, Mary Susan Shaffer, George Locke, Monica Antonie, Kevin Doherty, Kathy Mazzo and Diane Coleman and their respective families. She was predeceased by siblings Claire Locke, Helen Doherty, Theresa Weigel and Dennis Sheehan.

Eleanor worked for the president of Colt Industries on Park Avenue in New York City for many years and was married to Franklin Waldheim, a lawyer for the Walt Disney Company. They had an apartment in New York City and, later, homes in Southold and Boca Raton.

Eleanor was an avid reader and always wanted to be an actress. She had Betty Davis eyes. She was a stage mother for her niece Mary Susan Locke, who was on Broadway for three years in the original “Sound of Music” with Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel.

Eleanor loved animals and usually had a terrier or a Maltese companion. Her family has fond memories of her generous nature and love of life. She had an Auntie Mame quality to her — always looking for an adventure and always wearing green on March 17, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and arranging for family parties at that time.

The family received friends Dec. 3 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, where prayer services were held. Interment followed at St. Patrick R.C. Cemetery, also in Southold.

Vincent J. Bonta of Jamesport died Dec. 3 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport. He was 83.

Stephanie P. Biviano

Stephanie P. Biviano of Jamesport died Dec. 7 at Hospice Inn in Melville. She was 60.

She was born Aug. 14, 1953, in Brooklyn to Alphonse and Gertrude Sagnelli and married Anthony Biviano on Sept. 27, 2012, in Riverhead.

For many years, Ms. Biviano was a Weight Watchers leader in Riverhead. Family members said her Weight Watchers family was very important to her and she was a source of inspiration to many in the community.

Predeceased by her father, Ms. Biviano is survived by her husband; her daughter, Brittany Prim of Riverhead; her mother; and her sister, Terri DeMao of North Carolina and brother, Thomas Sagnelli of Clifton Park, N.Y.

Visiting hours were held starting Dec. 9 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue and continue Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, followed by interment at the church cemetery.

Former Riverhead resident Kathy L. Moodie of Heathsville, Va., passed away at her home Dec. 4, 2013. She was 68.

Kathy was born at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport in 1945 and grew up in Riverhead.

She lived in Triangle, Va., and for many years was a registered nurse at the U.S. Department of State. She retired in January 2008 to Heathsville, where she indulged her passions for boating and crabbing on the Coan River, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Kathy was predeceased by her father, William Keller, and brother Robert Keller. She is survived by her husband, Nelson Moodie Jr.; daughters, Abigail Campbell and Amanda Teague; their spouses, Michael Campbell Jr. and Robert Teague; grandchildren Lauren Campbell and Myles Teague; mother, Elizabeth Keller; siblings William Keller Jr., Ruth Muschamp, Christine Hilliker and James Keller; aunts, Pauline and Helen Case and Dorothy Kappenburg; and uncle, Richard Keller.

A private service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mid County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 355, Heathsville, VA 22473.

Catherine P. Bolobanic

Catherine P. Bolobanic passed away in her Mattituck home Dec. 4 at the age of 88.

Catherine Mahon was born, April 15, 1925, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She married Nicholas C. Bolobanic, a World War II Veteran, on June 20, 1948. They moved the family from Queens to Mattituck in 1977.

Nicholas and Catherine were married for 55 years before Nicholas predeceased her in July 2003.

Catherine is survived by seven children and six grandchildren.

The family received visitors Dec. 7 and 8 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck on Dec 9. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arthur L. Zielinski

Arthur L. Zielinski of Southold died Dec. 4, 2013. He was 99 years old.

He was born in Brooklyn, Sept. 14, 1914, to Leon and Stella (Kawneski) Zielinski.
Arthur served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then worked for a short time with the New York City Parks Department. From 1950 to 1974, he was a physical education instructor with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.

Formerly of Locust Valley, he had been a resident of the North Fork for the past 37 years and had been an active member of Griswold Terry Glover Post 803 of the American Legion, a communicant of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church and a board member of the Southold Indian Museum.

He enjoyed fishing, wood carving and American Indian history.

Predeceased by his wife, Adele S. Zielinski, Arthur is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gerlynn and Paul Zambratto of Oyster Bay; a granddaughter, Catherine Nunn; and a great-grandson, Christopher Nunn.

Calling hours were held Dec. 9 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, where members of the American Legion conducted services for their comrade. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 10 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church by Father Stan Wadowski. Interment, with U.S. Navy honors, was at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arthur T. Schoedel

Arthur T. Schoedel of Southold died at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport Dec. 3, 2013. He was 73 years old.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Dec. 29, 1939, to Arthur George and Ruth (Doherty) Schoedel. Raised and educated in Zelienople, Pa., he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965 and was stationed at Suffolk County Air Force Base in Westhampton Beach.

Arthur then went to work for Grumman in Calverton as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 1974.

In his free time, he enjoyed sports and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed membership in Griswold Terry Glover Post 803 of the American Legion.

Surviving are his children, Arthur, of Southold, Jeannette Cooper of New Suffolk and Chris, of North Dakota; 10 siblings; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held in Cranberry Township, Pa., and interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Warrendale, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.

Former Riverhead resident Janet Pelosi passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2013, at her home in Beaufort, S.C. She was 76.

Born and raised in College Point, Queens, she moved from Flushing to Center Moriches in 1974 with her then husband, Robert Pelosi Sr. For three years, Janet lived with her daughter Barbara in Riverhead. She moved to Beaufort in 2010.

Janet had been a longtime employee of Eastern Federal Savings in Center Moriches and of North Fork Bank in Hampton Bays, but her life revolved around her greatest love of all: her family.

Janet was predeceased by her precious children Janet Ann Smith and James Paul Pelosi; her brother, John Kalmus; and her sister, Kay Perrone. She is survived by her adoring children Barbara Lukert (Raymond) Williams, Robert Francis Jr. (Eileen), Daniel John, and Joan Eileen (Guy) Giammatteo. Janet was the treasured grandmother of Jennifer, Jeff, Tracie, Kelly Grace, Rachelle, Daniel, Anthony, Nicholas, Michael, Amy, Tyler, Jake, Gage, Emma Jay, Danny, Ashley, Deanna, and Robert; the dear great-grandmother of Kaylee Janet, Ayden, Jordan, Shea, James and Daniel; the loving sister-in-law of Eileen Kalmus; and the cherished aunt of Keith Kalmus, and Jackie Gratz. She is also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church of Center Moriches, followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in East Moriches.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

William DeWitt Titterton

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and Aquebogue resident William DeWitt Titterton died peacefully Dec. 5 at the Riverhead Care Center. He was 92.

He was born in Brooklyn Dec. 3, 1921, to Jeraldine (DeWitt) and William Alfred Titterton and was raised in New Jersey. William served valiantly in World War II as a bombardier-navigator in the Army Air Corps, then came home to meet Winifred Bosch of Brooklyn, whom he married on June 14, 1947.

William continued serving his country as an Air Force Reservist for 27 years, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel, while working in the family printing business.

The couple lived in New Hyde Park for 35 years, were parishioners of Holy Spirit Church and raised four children: William Bosch, Judith Leslie, John DeWitt and James Randolph. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren.

William was a member of the New Jersey Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and was active in St. John’s Church in Riverhead and Riverhead Free Library.

Shawn D. Grant died Dec. 14 at his Riverhead home. He was 45.

He was born Aug. 2, 1968, in Greenport to Elias and Virginia Grant and graduated from Westhampton Beach High School in 1986. He was employed as a custodian at Brookhaven National Lab. Family members said he enjoyed music.

Mr. Grant was predeceased by his brother Michael Grant and is survived by his wife, Sharlene, of Riverhead; his parents, of Southold; his children, Shakeera Parker and Shawn Jr., both of Riverhead, and Evette Ruffin of Brooklyn; his brother Elias Grant III of Maryland; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Friday, Dec. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place Saturday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. at Galilee Church of God in Christ, Riverhead. Interment will take place at Riverhead Cemetery.

Marilyn Woodhull

Former Riverhead resident Marilyn Woodhull of New Port Richey, Fla., died Dec. 4 after a brief and valiant fight with lung cancer. She was 61.

She was born Aug. 21, 1952, in Riverhead to Eugene and Eunice Woodhull and graduated from Riverhead High School.

Ms. Woodhull worked as an IT manager for AT&T and served on the board of the AT&T Pioneers in Tampa. She was very involved in numerous nonprofit organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, March of Dimes and United Way. Family members said, “She loved family and friends, cherished good times, and always had to capture the moment with a photo.”

Ms. Woodhull is survived by her daughter, Melanie Villafana of Washington, Ga., and her son, Michael Berendt of New Port Richey; her brothers, George, of Riverhead, and Lawrence, of New Port Richey; and one granddaughter.

Lucille J. Koroleski

Lucille J. Koroleski of Calverton died Dec. 17 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 86.

She was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Mount Sinai. Family members said she was a homemaker who enjoyed Bingo and gambling.

Ms. Koroleski was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, in 1987 and is survived by her son, William of Calverton; her daughters Sharon Gibbons of Calverton, Christine Koroleski of Brentwood and Janet; her siblings, Annie Danowski and Benjamin Koroleski, both of Mount Sinai; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, Dec. 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place Monday, Dec. 23, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

Antonio Maurice Cutler

Antonio (Tony) Maurice Cutler of Riverhead died Dec. 9 after a brief illness. He was 43.

He was born Feb. 14, 1970, in Beaufort County, N.C., to Alondra Cutler and Fredrick Gibbs Sr. He relocated in 1980 to Riverhead, where he attended school and took culinary classes through BOCES.

Family members said Mr. Cutler enjoyed cooking and spending time with his uncle Buddy fishing, landscaping and working on cars. They said he also loved working at Post Stop Café in Westhampton Beach, which he continued to do until October 2013.

Predeceased by his mother, Mr. Cutler is survived by his father, of Germany; his stepfathers, Ivory Windley of North Carolina and Samuel R. Bright of South Carolina; his former wife, Dawn Cutler of Westhampton; four children, Zandra Clark, Antonio Maurice Jr. and Christen, all of Florida, and Devin Maurice Riddle of New Mexico; four siblings, Michelle Satchell and Terrell Windley, both of North Carolina, Tonya Robinson of New York and Trondell Windley of Pennsylvania; three granddaughters; his companion, Victoria Lunghi; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel in Riverhead.

Michael Steininger, a resident of the Riverhead Care Center, died Dec. 17 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 70.

He was born in Brooklyn Jan. 27, 1943, and was employed by Con Edison as a shift manager.

Mr. Steininger is survived by his daughter, Kelly, and his brothers, Thomas and John.
Arrangements were handled by McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Cremation was private.

James William Trestrail

James William Trestrail of Southold died suddenly Dec. 17, 2013. He was 64.

He was born April 12, 1949, in Queens to William P. and Elizabeth Joan (Gill) Trestrail. Raised and educated in Lindenhurst, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Formerly of Lindenhurst and North Babylon, he had lived on the North Fork for the past 10 years and had been a grocer with Pathmark in North Babylon and Waldbaum’s in Mattituck. In his free time, he enjoyed metal detecting.

Surviving are his wife, Daria, and two children, James Jr. and Andrea, all of Southold, and a sister, Linda Joan Trestrail of Lindenhurst.

Graveside services were held Dec. 23 at Calverton National Cemetery, with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army.

Funeral arrangements were handled by DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes.
